Nhobola’s first pre-school
Collaborating with a volunteer retired preschool teacher from Canada, Pat Kuhnapfel, ASMK established Nhobola village's first pre-school in February 2014. It is now considered to be a world class facility.
Ms. Pat Kuhnapfel spent two months in Shinyanga trainingthree teachers who are now currently running the Nhobola village pre-school and the Shinyanga Town playgroup. With capacity for 50 children between the ages of four and six, the pre-school runs two daily sessions, and it has been producing a positive impact on the entire community.
The Shinyanga Town playgroup which is based at The Anna Schubert Centre, has a capacity for 20 children aged between three and five. The playgroup has been equally successful. A number of volunteers, some coming as far away as Germany and Canada have come to Shinyanga to volunteer with ASMK.
Clean Drinking Water
The availability of clean drinking water is a major problem in the village of Nhobola. In 2015, ASMK with assistance from a Dar es Salaam based Diplomat Spouses Group installed tree 5,000 litre water tanks at the Nhobola Primary School. The school had no access to water let alone clean safe drinking water. The tanks were installed to harvest rain for the primary and preschool that ASMK had set up a year earlier. It was not until October 2017,ASMK working alongside USA based H2OpenDoors in partnership with Darley, Cornell University that Nhobola village received it's first installation of a SunSpring bottling and filtration system and a solar pump at the Talaga spring.
The project delivered clean safe drinkable water to the village of Nhobola and through sales of the bottled water, the village could generate much needed revenue for village development projects.

Clinic at Buhangija for children living with albinism
From 2015 -2017, ASMK, in partnership with friends from Ireland, Alice and Paul Singleton, set up an emergency clinic at Buhangija Centre working with government appointed doctors to provide primary care for blind children and children with albinism who were residents at the centre for over 450 children.
Mentoring & Vocational Sponsorship Program for the Youth
ASMK sponsors on the average five youths annually for vocational training at the local VETA technical school to train in various skills like plumbing, electrical installation, carpentry and joinery, sewing, basic community health etc.
